Does anyone have any info about Fort Drum's housing shortage? I am told that the wait for an E7 is 8 to 12 months!! That most of the senior NCO housing has changed to lower enlisted. This sounds like the private company hasn't fixed this situation since I left 3 years ago. They knew that more housing would be needed and still are taking their time on building. Also a new coming soldier to the area without a house to live in is NOT priority 1 on the wait list but are priority 2 does that make any sense! It makes me hate this place more then I already do. If anyone just went through this or has any input please respond.

My daughter is a newlywed to an army specialist and is stuck on some off post housing on a long waiting list for on post housing at FtDrum. I can't believe the waiting list is so long for housing. I don't know what to tell her, but to wait it out or move back home. Good luck to you.

Default Long wait!!!

My husband is stationed in Arizona for AIT training and we just found out that we're moving to Fort Drum, New York. I called the Welcome Home Center and asked what I would have to do to get a small 2 bedroom home. They told me it would be a wait up to 12-16 months!!!! I am new at this whole experience.... finding a home/apartment. I'm trying to look for apartments available off post in a nearby town. I can't find anything. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!!! my e-mail address is: amandasweet1687@aol.com We're supposed to be moving around Mid September. We're from Texas so this whole thing is new to the both of us.

I don't know too much about the housing situation in detail, but if there is a such a housing shortage, why did the military sell some of the off post hosing to civilians. Now my daughter who is in off post housing may be on the streets in a few months. I hope this gets better.

We recently moved to Ft. Drum in July. We are on the waiting list for on post, which is a 14 to 18 month wait. We are currently renting right off post at Woodcliff Townhouses. These were once military leased house but are now private rentals. They are not too bad, I have lived in better and I have lived in worse during our military moves. They have lots of 2 bedrooms, so you might want to check it out. They are located in the town of Calcium and are about 2 miles from the main gate to Ft. Drum.

Hello, how do you like Woodcliff?, I will be relocating to Ft Drum in January 2010, is it a nice community and are the apts nice, or are they run down?, it seens as if alot of places are not dog friendly there. But I did speak to a lady by the name of Kat, and she was very friend, and seemed to be very helpful, please give me feed back.....do you like it there?

Default Moving to Fort Drum in June 2010

We are moving to Fort Drum in June 2010 and i'am really worried about having a place to live. It is really bothersome looking at the sites and not finding any places available. We have 3 kids and need at least a 3-4bdrm. I was wondering what is the job market like for spouses and the area homes. The ones online look really torn down and raggedy. Can anyone offer any help? Email meat dd30010@yahoo.com.
