Hello my name is Leslie. I am a single mother who is looking to make the move to the New Paltz Area. Rite now i am looking to meet people who live in the area to help me figure out if this is the rite move for me and my son. My main concerns mainly consist of education for my son and if there are any areas that are more kid firendly than others. I would like him to be able to have a few friend with in a reasonable distance to where ever i call home. I am also interested to know what the 30ish crowd does up there for fun
thankl for all of your help
Leslie

i just wanted to bump this up because i am wondering about family life in nee paltz as well....is it primarily a college town, or is there a younger family scene, e.g., families in their 30's with kids??

Default the paltz

the village of new paltz is for sure a college town, i dont live there but i do work there.

this makes new paltz one of the most accessible areas of the hudson valley.

everyone you meet is very friendly and welcoming. since it's a college area there is always something to do for people of all ages and some great activities for children.

some neighboring areas hate new paltz because of all the hippies, but it's more of a local joke than actually hatred. and the hippies is what makes new paltz so welcoming, and i would say it definetly has the best restaurants in the area with literally something for everyone with in walking distance of each other.

i go to an indoor climbing gym a lot, climbing is big here being so close the the gunks and all, and i would say most of the parents that bring their kids there are in there 30s and have a very large social network and again they are all super friendly as most of them are transplants from the city.

so yeah hope that helps a bit
