Taxes go up every year. No, they are not based on sale price. Yes, they most likely will change when you get new appraisal. Assessors cannot see what's inside so they only guesstimate based on neighborhood, acres, outside improvements, school district, sq. footage. Seller may have never reported that finished basement or new bath. So when it gets reappraised you as the new owner will have higher taxes.
