Try the Roscoe Diner. I've never been, but I've heard good things about it. The World Famous Roscoe Diner

Two cute places a bit off Route 17:

Rolling River Cafe
Parksville

Eureka Cafe
Route 55
Grahamsville

The Eureka Cafe is easy to find. Take the 100A exit, go east on Rte 55 about 10 miles more or less. You will pass through the village of Neversink before you reach the cafe. Cafe will be on the left side.

I have a home in Neversink so I know the area quite well.

I reread your post. Neversink is nice, but not that cute little town you are looking for, however, the Eureka Cafe is nice and a lot of local people go there. If you continue on Rte 55 past the cafe, you will come to Grahamsville which is nice. There is not much to do there, but it looks rural.
