Where to stay for one night after landing on JFK airport? (York: hotels, safe area) - New York (NY) - City-Data Forum

This will be my first time in the USA so I was wondering can someone recommend me where to stay for one night. I'm looking for a place/motel which is in some safe area not to far from airport and not to expensive (~80$ night). I'm looking for just a one night because next day I'm traveling to another city.

Btw, are the tickets bought on JFK airport much more expensive than those bought online? I will know exact time when I need to travel to another city only once I arrive to airport so I don't wont to buy online before.

The hotels near JFK airport that are safe are usually expensive. (The cheap hotels near the airport are usually not that safe.)
I would suggest staying a bit further away in Long Island City, Queens:

I see there is a NYC Airporter from JFK to Manhattan for just $15.50. I'm not sure which route are they driving.

The location seems to be in an okay area.

Great! Now I only need to find out where is the best location to buy cheap airline tickets. Any advice?

I am a student and I have ISIC card so probably in STA Travel agency they will give me some discount.

Thanks but I will not be able to buy ticket online so I'm looking for some travel agency which will not charge me large additional fee for buying ticket in agency. Something like that STA Travel.
