We missed out last year because we had been in an accident the week before and didn't have transportation. We felt so terrible the kids had to miss out. We don't want to miss out this year!

I checked for you and the only Fireworks Event that I could find to be held in the month of July at Penn Yan is the following. It does not mean that there are no other Fireworks Events at Penn Yan but I could not find any other event in all my checking.

To answer your other question, I do not know which show has the best Fireworks Display. My guess would be that the bigger towns would be better able to financially conduct the best Fireworks Events because a professional Fireworks show is not cheap to conduct.
I hope your family is able to attend one or two of these Fireworks Events and your children, yourself, & your husband enjoy your evening at the show.

Saratoga Springs NY, one of my favorite small cities in NY State, will have their All-American Celebration & Fireworks Show day-long holiday events on July 4th. Below is an overview of activities.
11:00 AM - All-American BBQ and Dessert Tasting Fest at various locations around downtown

11:30 AM - Classic Car Show lining Congress Park plaza
12:00 Noon thru all afternoon / evening - Congress Park. Celebrations, Special-Food Tasting=charge per sample, Classic Car Show, Carousel rides, Children's face painting, Childrens games & fun, music, vendor food or your picnic, after earlier events.
9:00 PM or Dark - Fireworks Spectacular & Patriotic Music at Congress Park. Arrive one hour early to get a downtown parking space and set up your lawn chair.
• Kingston: Festivities, including live music, will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Rondout Creek waterfront. Fireworks over the creek will start at 9:45 p.m.
• Marbletown: Fireworks over Lake Mohonk will start at 9 p.m. Wednesday.
• New Paltz: Festivities at the Ulster County Fairgrounds on Libertyville Road will begin with music at 4 p.m. Saturday. Fireworks will be shot off at dusk.
• Plattekill: Festivities at Thomas Felton Park in the hamlet of Modena begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday with music. Fireworks will be launched at dusk.
• Saugerties: A parade will step off at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Saugerties Junior-Senior High School on Washington Avenue Extension and proceed through the village. Fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m. at the Cantine Field sports complex.
The Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration over Otsego Lake on Saturday, at about 9 p.m. The Cooperstown Community Band will perform in Lakefront Park at 8 p.m.
Margaretville
The annual Firemen's Carnival will start at 10 a.m. daily Tuesday through Saturday in Village Park, with fireworks on Wednesday and Saturday, and a fireman's parade on Saturday to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Margaretville Fire Department.
Oneonta
The Hometown Fourth of July celebration in Oneonta will run from noon to 9:30 p.m. in Neahwa Park, with two stages of live music and dance, as well as games, demonstrations, a farmers' market, face painting, baseball and visits from the Binghamton Zoomobile, the RoboKronos team, Wildlife Alive Wild Birds and Oneonta's women's roller derby team, the Derailing Darlings. The Greater Oneonta Historical Society will present self-guided walking tours of the park's monuments from 1 to 5 p.m. Tour sheets will be available at the GOHS table near the historic Red Caboose. For more information about the GOHS program, call 432-0960.
