I'm looking at going to NY to do some entrepreneurship. I guess it is a trade off. Texas is good for companies like manufacturing which want low taxes and low labor regulations, lower wages etc. for the big companies. If your main problem is taxes, Texas is for you. But I think for a startup New York will be better. New York seems to be more generous in terms of doling out capital and creating programs to help small entrepreneurs. Some will call it handouts and say we should let the free market do its thing and I agree to some extent, but why not take advantage of it?
MI is about in the middle tax wise but has nothing in terms of the economic incentives or capital New York has. I guess it is why I am leaving MI, because it doesn't have low enough taxes to justify staying for the tax climate (like Texas) or enough starting capital like New York.
