West Coaster Working in Pearl River - Recommendations of Neighborhoods? (house prices, theatre)

Hello.
I'm a recent west coast transplant and am looking for neighborhood suggestions. My wife and I are mid 40s and have a 3 yr old. We like rural areas, parks and are active out of doors types, walking, biking and swimming. We like arts, theatre, etc.., too - looking for family friendly areas - with house prices in the mid 300k's to low 400k.
