If you get anywhere near Blue Mountain Lake in the Adirondacks, check this place out:

Adirondack Museum

You can get there by taking NYS 12 North out of Utica to NY 28 which goes northeast up into the Adirondacks and will eventually lead you to Blue Mountain Lake. It's a beautiful ride.

If you are a railroad buff, there is also this along that route:

Adirondack Scenic Railroad - Home

You also have your regional food brands. Hot Dogs, Sausage, and Specialty Meat Products | Zweigle's | Rochester NY

Hofmann Hot Dogs

Premium Quality Meat Products - Sahlen's

G & L Meats > Home

Heluva Good® | Home

Bison Foods

Among others and you have some regional restaurants and stores as well.

Also, culturally you will notice a Native American presence in parts of Upstate NY. So, that may be of interest to you.

I love stuff like this. Lol!

I was just reading that there are statewide smoking bans, including in bars, in all New England states. Is that correct and are New York State's smoking bans the same? Is smoking banned in bars across NYS? I think that's great, as I have asthma and I will actually be able to go into a bar when I will be in Boston!!!

However, the Tomato Pie is generally more common in NJ/NY region.

If you are going to Mass, definitely do Cape Cod, especially Provincetown. If you are going through Maine, Acadia has fantastic hiking.

Smoking bans extend to places other than bars. Some towns ban smoking in parks, beaches and public areas. The only time I see smokers is usually outside of a Wal-mart.
