Moving car from Texas to New York (Rochester, Corning: DMV, maintenance)

Hello,

I am moving from Austin, Texas to Corning, New York (close to Rochester). I am planning to moving my car to Corning and uset it there. Are there any maintenance activities and conditioning that I should do on the car? I am wondering if the car that has been used in the Texas weather will work without issues on the cold New York weather.

Your car should not have any problems running on NY streets. Check with the local DMV. When you go to register and change your address there they will let you know if you should do something.

Drain,flush and refill your cooling system. Invest in a set of snow tires and wheels. (That can wait til you get there.)

You should also invest in a snow brush and ice scraper.

You may also want to get what are called "winter" windshield wiper blades, which are thicker, heavier wiper blades, but they are not a necessity. Since you should change your wiper blades regularly, doing so before winter weather hits is a good idea.
