I am moving to either Alexandria Bay or Clayton, Jefferson County. I am comparing the two cities/town and although they are only around 3 miles away from each other I noticed that the average yearly income per household is higher in Clayton. Does this mean that they have better job opportunities? Also, in general where is a better place to live with regards to crime, thefts, etc, and overall way of living especially for elders.

Both are fine communities that have a tourist like atmosphere due to being in the 1000 Islands Region. Crime, especially serious crime isn't much of an issue at all and Watertown is the best bet in terms of jobs. There may be some jobs at Fort Drum as well. Alex Bay has a small hospital and both are small villages with some walkability, but the surrounding town is very rural. It really will be a matter of which one do you prefer.
