I just bought a farm lot in Alexandria bay and I was wondering if anybody knows a thing or two about the area's history. I've already googled some info.

Also, what is the demographics there and are people there generally nice to newcomers as I know in some parts of the US, people in the communities aren't really open and welcoming to new people moving into their town/community.

You may be fine due the presence of Fort Drum Army Base. Actually, Clayton has or has military housing. So, it isn't uncommon to have newcomers in the area. Word on the street is that a famous Country Music star has a place not too far away. So, that is another factor to think about, as some people have second homes/rentals/cottages in the 1000 Islands too.

Here's some more information: Cornwall Brothers Store and Museum

History : Official Website: Alexandria Bay Chamber of Commerce, Thousand Islands NY
