Montauk Point, Empire State Bldg, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Catskill and Adirondack mountains, gorges around Ithaca, Finger Lakes, Lake Ontario, Niagara Falls, Long Island beaches, upstate and LI vineyards...There are so many awesome places throughout NY.

American side of Niagara Falls. Stand on the hurricane deck.
Close your eyes when you pass through the city.

You may like the 1000 Islands and communities like Clayton, Alexandria Bay, Cape Vincent and nearby Sackets Harbor on Lake Ontario. Perhaps Lake Champlain as well.

Both Great Lakes, Erie and Ontario.
Hudson Valley, including the US Military Academy at West Point and FDR's home/gravesite at Hyde Park.
Ft Ticonderoga.
Canandaiagua, including Sonnenberg Gardens.
Buffalo's wonderful 19th century architecture. If you come the last weekend in July, catch the Buffalo Garden Walk which is when hundreds of private gardens are open for viewing on the city's West Side.
Erie County Fair in Hamburg and/or NYS Fair in Syracuse. Great little county fairs include the Altamont Fair near Albany and the Cattaraugus County Fair in Little Valley (both in August).
"Maple Weekend" featuring tours of maple syrup making "sugar bushses" usually takes place in the Southern Tier the 3rd and 4th weekends of March.
Skiing at Gore, Hunter Mountain, Bristol, Holiday Valley, Peak n Peek ... ski towns include Lake Placid and Ellicottville.
