That's the same information I received except NY states that your insurance will not be in force for Jan 2014 you fail to make the premium payment by 12 15 2013. Happy to pay it if someone would send me a notice. Argh!!!! Thanks again.
Some companies make you go through the exchange to sign up, at least the one I selected.
I'm not aware that any companies are offering non exchange plans. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the law? Do you know of any non exchange plans by name?
Blue Cross, Oxford, Emblem all have non exchange plans that have all the ACA mandates. They are the same plans as those sold on the exchange. The law is to have individual insurance which non exchange plans meet. The exchange is for subsidies for poorer people. Some think eventually the non exchange plan non subsidized premiums will be lower than exchange plans due to having a healthier pool of applicants.
Is the 95.00 tax penalty fee for not having insurance a monthly payment per person? I will have new insurance from hubby's job come January but we will have a $4,000 deductible and have to pay out of pocket until it's met which stinks because I never had health insurance with a deductible before. I had a prescription deductible once that was $100 but that was met by just filling two RX's.

Yes, it is per person.
From what I hear, the "Obamacare" plans all have big deductibles too. So you have to pay a monthly amount, plus meet deductibles. I also heard they don't cover prescriptions. I don't know if that is true. Can anyone confirm? I have employer-sponsored health insurance so I did not look on the Obamacare website for myself.
So with thanks to many of you I finally contacted my health care plan today. NyS said the application was submitted but the company states it has not received any information. I gave them my ID info and other confirming documentation but no luck. The rep said they will be working hard to process all applications. As mine was "submitted" November 7th I am Wondering if I will ever be covered. I am not an anti-govt person but there are jobs best loo left to the private sector. Sounds like this is one of them. This seems ridiculous. Good luck to any who believe you are covered. I hope it pans out. Thanks again for a great education and many helpful tips.
Thanks for adding that! Yes, it is paid once a year, when you fill out your income tax form and send it in due 4/15.
I heard on talk radio (for what that's worth) that the penalty is subtracted from tax refunds but if you don't get a refund the IRS cannot force you to pay. Don't know if that's true.
Anyone sign up for Obamacare and get an invoice yet?
