Sometimes the city really pisses me off. Seems like everyone thinks they're and architect, engineer, landscape designer or such. Slow the approval process. I'm surprised any developer puts up with al of it. Anyway here'summary of the latest planning meeting. I thought Asteri was going to breeze through especially since its affordable housing.
While it's great that the state is releasing this property, anyone who buys it will have one hell of a fight with Ithaca for ANY kind of development. There have been numerous projects the last few years where developers walked away after years of trying to appease the local government.

True, but if you've been there lately and/or even look at earlier posts in the thread, you would see some of the new development that has occurred in the city.

I'm specifically talking about their waterfront. I live near Ithaca - much closer than you and go there frequently. i've watched one large parcel in particular be a battle with the city. They've lost several development projects with it. The developers come back with what the city asks for then they change their minds. This waterfront lot won't be developed anytime soon with the way Ithaca runs.

So, the interest is there and it may just come down to the right development for that area.
