Where is the best place to find out the mill rates for New York homes? What percentage of the assessed values are New York homes taxed?

Last column in Table 2 will give you the total millage for full taxable value.

Property/school Tax tables for all NYS by City, Town, Village

These don't include possible discounts like STAR program, seniors, disabilities, veterans, etc. that the state and some towns give.

You will find different rates in many towns. We used to be at something like 80% and were revalued a few years back at 100%. (Erie County) Many towns were already at 100%, some are ridiculously low - 55% or so ( my sister has that).

Thing about the revalue? We are actually paying the same. Why? The tax rate per $1K of valuation was entirely restructured. You will find that a lot here.

STAR is the discount in school taxes to homeowners. This year, we even got cash back as in 2005 or so, Albany didn't set the STAR rate correctly. If you were just any homeowner, you had to apply. Seniors get more off ( they got the check and didn't need to apply)
