I didn't feel unsafe in any part of town, but I'll agree that the town's West End was the most desirable looking and generally the most well-kept.

Default Info on Vestal

I grew up in Vestal until I went away to college, but my parents still live there. Vestal is not an exciting big city, but it's a good place to raise kids. You asked about good/bad areas to live in, but Vestal isn't really big enough to have really bad areas. Binghamton and Endicott on the other hand definitely have sketchy areas. As another poster said, Vestal is an enclave of the Binghamton. I would definitely recommend living in Vestal over Binghamton or any of the other areas nearby. Everything you could want is within a 15 minute drive of Vestal, so you can live there and still reap the benefits of entertainment in neighboring towns. All of the neighborhoods are nice, but they vary a lot in terms of median house price and size. The African Road area and Tioga Hills area are two of the nicer and more expensive neighborhoods. The school system is great and much better than all surrounding towns in multiple regards. A lot of people think Vestal is boring, but it's simple and full of good people. Good luck with moving. I highly recommend Trevitt Realtors if you want a great real estate agent that will cut to the chase and really knows the area well.

Haha.......No gangs in Vestal, from what I know. It's probably the Binghamton area's most affluent suburb too. there are more Asians than the two groups you brought up, eventhough they have recognizable populations in the town too. Here's some information on the town:Town of Vestal, NY

I hear things about how Binghamton seems to be turning itself around. I haven't been to Binghamton for about 10 years. I'm in Syracuse and we have a lot of hype about how Syracuse is turning itself around, but it seems like 1 step forward 2 steps back a lot of the time. What's actually getting better in Binghamton these days?

Johnson City is odd to me in that you don't know when Binghamton ends and JC begins. There are some really nice parts of JC and it's the most "diverse" of the Binghamton area suburbs. Endicott is close in that respect too. Both seem to be nice and affordable.

An area that is nice outside of Binghamton is the Endicott, Endwell area.
From Hooper, up Ford and following up to Foxboro Lane . You might find a dream home up that way. People seem to love the Endwell School district especially.
It then is only a skip to Vestal. Like driving across town..........
After much searching thats where our family members bought a home.
You love the shopping in the Vestal area. The Sams Club there is my favorite of any I have been in.
