Hi, Relocating to Middletown New York with 8 kids & 1 cat, can anyone advice on relocating from London to Middletown with 3 Kids & 1 Cat?
Housing, schools, community etc....
Middletown is eh... old. There is speculation that when they build the I-86 expansion that is currently 17 East/West running through Middletown that they may build a bridge connecting Middletown's two largest shopping malls (Orange Plaza and Galleria at Crystal Run) but there is better shopping to be found in Monroe (Woodbury Common, Harriman Commons, Woodbury Centre etc.) and in Newburgh (Office Depot just moved in, Staples is coming and the Marketplace at Newburgh is still coming which will be a mega mall). I can't imagine anyone would want to move from NYC to another city (Middletown/Newburgh) but the towns offer a variety of living options and price ranges. Middletown does draw in a lot of people looking to buy a new home for less than $400K but you can do better, closer for less than $400K.
Josh- I havent found a 4 bed 2.5 colonial that is under 500k..and with taxes less than 13k...what am I missing.
Also what do you think of living in the TOWN of newburgh, with marlboro schools...looking at a development there. What about if you live in middletown BUT send your kids to private schools?
Also when do they anticipate the marketplace at newburgh to be complete..or at least some of the anchor stores opened? I personally wouldnt mind living closer towards newburgh as I can still get to dutchess....what towns would you reccomend SOUTH of this new marketplace...I like living close to everything.
If you are not looking to move into a "city" you can move into the outskirts of Middletown (Wallkill). This town actually surrounds Middletown and has a more suburban, even rural feel. Search wallkill listings on Moderator cut: advertising
