GE is currently in the process of moving locomotive production from Erie, PA to Fort Worth, Texas. GE has been in Erie for more than 100 years. GE chairman Jeff Immelt likes the tax and labor climate in Texas. I wouldn't be surprised to see GE headquarters moved to Dallas.
When will the shell game end, Andrew? This is just admitting that taxes are too high, all the while giving more to GE and taking more from us. GE pulled all the good middle class manufacturing jobs years ago. The headquarters is just symbolic. Meanwhile the government gets to choose what businesses operate in NYS. The days of a home grown business starting from the kitchen table or basement are gone.
There's a huge startup boom going on, so, basically, you're wrong.
Yeah, there is. HA HA. In a community of about a million you will see a few dozen new companies. That's no boom. Additionally almost every single one is nurtured along with government funded incubators and assorted programs. When they leave there with their 6 employees, they will need government subsidies to set up shop somewhere. And it goes on and on with each expansion, if that happens. Many businesses at that point get gobbled up by another company by that time and are gone.
I wish there was a boom as much as you do, but let's face it, at best maybe you're missing my point, but there is no boom when .000024% of the population is starting a business. Oh, but it sure gets the politicians a lot of political patronage from the companies needing favors.
