Hello all,

I'm hoping you guys can help me out with a paper I'm writing for one of my Graduate Course classes. Any feedback/experiences on your end is welcome and will be crucial for
My paper!

Question - In the NY are, what has been your frustrations/experiences with staffing firms and agencies in helping you land positions?

Thanks!

My experiences-

- When I was unemployed, the NYC staffing agencies rarely responded to me even though Long Island recruiters almost always did.

- When I was a temp, once I started working then the recruiter would almost always completely ignore me after I started working.

- I remember that I met with one particular recruiter lady in Melville (who owned the company) and she was so incredibly nasty; i've always wondered how that woman managed to stay in business. I would never deal with a person like that.

- When I used to apply to jobs online, I loved applying to the staffing agencies since I can just send them my resume and move on. It always pissed me off how when you apply directly to most companies, they want you to still fill out ALL of this info even though they have your damn resume in front of them: Annoying!!

Memory maker,

When you say the recruiter never contacted you when you were on assignment, how often would they check in?

The only time they bothered to check in with me is when they wanted something from me, when I called them, never had any time for me. It was so satisfying when the client hired me full time, I stopped filling out time cards for the staffing firm, when they finally called me two weeks later, I told them i will no longer be filling out time cards for them anymore. That was my notice.
