I know a Spanish language newscast is a big deal in Syracuse, but I listen to them 3 hours a day on Sling: specifically RCN, Caracol and NTN24. Was it a one-off or will it be a regular daily thing CK?

Good question...We used to have a Spanish language show every Saturday evening called Sabor Latino on Power 620 AM put on by the Spanish Action League: https://www.laligaupstateny.org/

There are other shows in Spanish on WVOA 87.7 in the area as well: SCHEDULE

There is also a local newspaper(mentioned earlier in the thread): http://cnylatinonewspaper.com/home/

Syracuse's Hispanic/Latino community is concentrated on the city's West Side and in the Near West Side neighborhood in particular. Some live on the East Side and elsewhere in the area. In fact, the school superintendent in the Syracuse City SD is Hispanic and the previous one was/is African American/Hispanic(originally from Uniondale). http://www.syracusecityschools.com/d...cfm?pageid=534

If one is to come to Syracuse and want some restaurant recommendations, here are some places: https://www.syracusemenus.com/don_juan_cafe.html (Puerto Rican spot with big Empadillas, with good Roast and Fried Chicken, as well as Passion Fruit Juice. Locations on the West Side, Baldwinsville and Auburn)

https://www.facebook.com/Las-Delicia...3695790025955/ (Dominican spot on Westcott Street east of SU that also has good Roast Chicken and Empanandas. Also, offers Oxtails and Cuban sandwiches, among other things)

https://www.northsyracusemexican.com/ (Legit Mexican spot in North Syracuse)

This is a popular Mexican spot in Camillus and Oswego: https://www.aztecacny.com/

The difference between the food you get in the USA vs the Latin countries is a real eye opener. One thing is that a lot of what is served in Latin Countries is much fresher and less processed that what you get here. Also many of the ingredients are simply unavailable and you get an Americanized version of the food. I have had food in the home countries and here and IMHO there is no comparison.

^ Good article and point about the difference in what we get versus what is actually served in the actual countries. It is similar to how some Chinese restaurants will have a different menu with more authentic foods on it.
