You also have this Ford dealership in Ithaca, which may be a city to look into given its walkability and it sits on a Finger Lake: Maguire Ford Lincoln | Ford Dealership in Ithaca NY

Thank you for the details replies. It is going to be a tough decision because we love it all, the water the mountains, just about everything! Jollies (vacation) again this and again in March of next year will determine where Upstate it will be, I have no doubt my hubby will find something, he still has a lot to offer any dealership he works for.

Just curious, but are you looking for an area that has water and mountains within close proximity to each other?

Also, would you be open to places on one of the Great Lakes(Erie or Ontario)?

We have spent time in both the Finger Lake.....Thousand Island The Adirondack's and Vermont. Vermont is out of the question but it will be one of the the above and that's why I'm here trying to get as much info as I can.

Well I think somewhere around Keuka or southern Canandaigua lake would be excellent for you in all regards!

Plenty of hills, some low mountains, good flower growing, small town but not hopelessly isolated, and a pretty lake to boot.

If you prefer to be even deeper into hill country, I think the town of Addison might be up your alley. It is not far from Corning and it's on the smaller side in terms of population.
