Is the Plattsburgh area the best kept secret in NY State? (Buffalo: home, school)

I want to look into Plattsburgh area more. I used to come to Clinton County when I was a kid but havent been for many years. I however have family up there around Cadyville and Dannemora. I am under the impression the area is nice, the people are nice. Its a nice place to get a fresh start even if jobs arent the greatest or the economy isnt. I am in St Petersburg FL currently, not liking it. I am socially isolated yet most would opt to be down here. Not me though. Despite all my problems I've had with scammers and bad people down here in FL, I still have my mom or possibly grandma feeding my brain with the fact Upstate NY has so many lowlifes on disability but now if they bring it up to me, It will offend me personally because technically I am on disability.. I've had trouble. I dont mind being around poor white people. I like how its a very high white % up there and its more real living compared to Florida. I wont lie. I look very much forward to research more for a long term move to Upstate NY if I can save some more money, live back with my parents for enough time until then.

I am eyeing the area though.

A lot of the companies that are in the area are based in Quebec. Specialized Assembly manufacturer; electrical harnesses, cables and complex electromechanical assembly.

Unfortunately, but hopefully given the low electric costs(Rouses Point gets its electric via NYPA) and its proximity to Montreal(only 45 miles away), it can attract another company. Perhaps a Canadian based company could consider the site.
