Hi Everyone!!!

I am currently in the process of registering my 5 yr old for school in the fall. I just found out that school starts at 8:55 and ends at 3:30 My question is how do working families accomodate to this around here?? or is the majority of the population stay at home moms??? I work in the city, and am going absolutely crazy trying to figure out how we are going to handle this??? anyone have any insights?

Area day care should have several children who catch the bus at their facility......check w/ school for a 'latch key" program which provides after school supervision at the school

Have you tried Daycare. They probably have some kind of Pick up- Drop off service. I live in New Windsor, and that's what I do. Expect to pay about $100 or more. I pay $50 for 5 hours a week mornings, and 1 hour a week afternoons. Do you have a YMCA? They usually have afterschool.

Default Same problem for me....

Hi

I am new to Warwick also but both my kids commute with me every morning! It's hard on me and on them. Not sure what to do. Will your child be going to Kings Elementary in the fall? I have not registered my child yet because I am worried. I have started looking for work in Orange County but don't know how soon that will happen. I have thought about staying home and babysitting but not sure where to begin. I feel it will be hard for families to leave their children since no one knows me. I have one child that will be entering Kindergarten in the fall and one that will entering 8th grade in the fall. I love being at home once I am there but dread this whole commute. If you've come across any ideas please let me know.

Default In the same boat

I have been going through the same thing. Depending on where you live in Warwick there are different options. If you child is going to be going to Sanfordville there is Rythm and Rhymes on Kings Highway....they open at 6AM and are open until 7:30. For me this is not an option as my son will be going to kindergarten at Kings. All warwick elementary schools have Creative Care programs run by the PTA. Drop off begins at 7:00AM, however, your child MUST be picked up no later than 6. For most parents like myself getting there by 6 may be difficult. As best I can tell there are no day care afterschool programs that are with in the busing area for Kings...if anyone knows of any please respond. We have secured a great babysitter for the summer using a site called care.com. It requires a membership but you can post an add and you can have a backround check run as part of your membership for candidates that you interview. For the most part people are asking for $10-$15 per hour which adds up quickly. If we are unable to find other options we will likely use it again for someone to take our son off the bus at the end of the day.

That is all I have found so far and have been doing alot of searching. Any other places/options people are aware of would be greatly appreciated.
