Utica is a very underrated city but the Old School parochial pinheads who have run the city need to look at the bigger picture and not through the lens of the "what's in it for me" mindset (which has driven away a lot of industry and businesses looking to move the Mohawk Valley). It's a great region for culinary (need a culinary school!) and education (many colleges...)...if they start with that as the core and realize the blue-collar manufacturing world is not coming back...they can re-invent the region. The recently arrived immigrant community is a good start (there is some amazing food on Bleecker..)...but the Old Guard Cement-Executive types who ran Utica who cling to power need to go.....
And they definitely need someone with some competence to book musical acts at the Stanley (amazing place). Krause is a buffoon who never worked in music!
^I think slowly, but surely, Utica is starting to revitalize a bit and have some plans in place. So, I believe that things are starting to come around for the city.
