I agree 100 percent. There is so much more to New York state than NYC and Long Island. Florida is great for vacations, and in fact I'm planning a vacation to Florida for April; but it's probably the last place I'd want to live.

I have to say I really miss upstate in the fall - your right there is much more to NY than NYC but I still can't do the cold for too long

Anyway
Happy Holidays

Lets not foget the 2 1/4% tax rate on homes in Florida, A $400,000 house will have taxes of $9000.00. Oh, and then there's the $1200.00 plus per year in Hurricane Insurance. Pretty good schools they have down there as well. Traffic is a dream and the crime is next to nothing. Salaries don't support the housing costs and let's not mention the 5 summer months where it's too hot to do anything outdoors.
I'll stay in NY thanks.

Thanks for the Florida X-mas pics, Reminds me of the Currier & Ives scenes. LOL.

We don't pay NYC tax living in Long Island. School taxes are in your property tax. Cell phone tax isn't worth mentioning.

At lease we have the salaries to support it what do they pay in Florida?

And I wouldn't mention day laborers when Florida is filled with illegals swimming across the Atlantic. LOL

You want to know who has it better? We do. We have history here. You can't put a price on that. The majority of people in Florida all came from somewhere else.

Things you don't need in Western NY at this time of year:

1) Traffic.

2) Traffic.

3) Air Conditioning.

4) More traffic.

5) one hour commute to work.

6) Traffic.

7) Did I mention traffic?

Point taken, though, this is a nice time of year in the south. We'll get our turn next July, though

Florida is great for some things, especially vacations from February through May. Then, it's 'buh-bye'.

Some things are bigger there:
communities of old, retired people clogging up doctor's offices
larger pool of old people driving who shouldn't be, but it's their 'right'
huge cockroaches
enormous insurance rates for hurricanes
golf courses putting a strain on the aquifers

New York is great but if you want to leave, check out coastal California. Oh and bring your millions with you(s).
