NYS careers page just posted the opening of a new exam for Clerical Assistant JG-12. Starting at about $39k plus location pay.
Exam 45-813 Open Competitive
Exam 55-813 Promotional
Open for filing 5/30/2019. $30 non refundable application fee (for open competitive, if you aren't an employee of NYS UCS).
Exam Dates Title & Salary Grade Filing Period
July 16, 2019 – August 18, 2019 Clerical Assistant (JG-12) May 30, 2019 – July 2, 2019
Key issue is that the application must be filed (on-line, everything is electronic with this exam) no later than July 2, 2019.
It's an extensive on-line job application, so don't wait until the very last minute to do this.
You then self-schedule an appointment at an available exam site, by August 9th, once they send you a link.
So it looks like they intend to get lists established quickly.
One thing to note: "the promotional list will be used to make appointments before appointments are made from the list established from the open-competitive examination."
My question is this - will there be enough openings for them to even reach those taking the exam "off the street" (on an open-competitive basis)?
Hi. Has anyone taking this exam yet? If so, how was it? I wonder if we get the results at the end of the exam like how they do it with DCAS? Or how long will it take to get the results?
I took it. its 90 questions in 2 hours on computer. they give you scrap paper. most of it is easy, spelling ,grammer, etc. 2 parts require you to fill in charts on scrap paper. I suggest you do it. makes answering easier. otherwise it gets really confussing.
