I've notice that burgers at McDonald's upstate come standard with mustard, and downstate they don't. Which means that somewhere, likely in the Hudson Valley, there is a McDonald's that does not serve mustard by default with the nearest one to the North of it having mustard by default.

The McDonalds at 3470 North Rd. in southern Poughkeepsie does not serve their burgers with mustard, while the McDonalds at 733 Main St. in north Poughkeepsie does serve their burgers with mustard.

The area between them, a scant couple of miles across, is known as the Great McDonalds Mustard DMZ, and I take off my hat to the dozens who have given their lives there for expressing the wrong opinion about mustard and whether or not it should be a standard hamburger ingredient.

Totally notice that when we moved to central NY! We never encountered this when we lived in
Dutchess County and obviously never in NYC Also, here in CNY they always ask if we want our gallon of milk in a bag? I was caught off guard at first- now i'm used to it LOL

I actually know the answer to this question. As of a few years ago anyway. McDonald's in Peekskill is the southern most McDonald's that puts mustard on the hamburgers. Ossining is the next McDonald's going south along the Hudson River and they do not.

I'm more concerned about hot sauce. I know in Rochester, our hot sauce is thick and meaty. I was unaware it wasn't like that everyware
