"For many aspiring executives, earning a Master of Business Administration opens the door to a whole new level of opportunities.
While MBA programs can be found at colleges all across upstate New York, they're not all created equal. Graduates from some programs earn significantly more after graduation than others — and the programs vary widely in price.
We analyzed first-year earnings for MBA graduates at 20 colleges upstate, and compared that with the annual cost of attendance. The data comes from the U.S. Department of Education, which tracks the earnings of students who took on federal student loan debt."

Doesn't it make sense to go to a prestigious school if you're going to go for an MBA? Something well-known? Never heard of Simon School and I don't think many employers outside of NY would know anything about U of R.

Even the article itself implies that, because you may not get paid as much going to say UAlbany's program, but looking at how much you get paid in relation to what you paid to attend is better than many of the other programs on the list.

The Simon School of Business at UofR is considered a top tier business school. It's ranked both nationally and internationally. So the school is definitely well known outside of NY.
Bloomberg ranks them 29th in the US and 54th globally.
So yes, it depends on whichever reference you go with. But on all those references the Simon School is considered among the "top business schools".
The top 20 US schools in any list are almost always the ivy league schools. And roughly the next 30 schools are considered the top tier schools. UofR's Simon Business School is always among the listing of the top tier US business schools in every business school listing.
And I might also add, that RIT's business school has consistently been rising in the rankings the last 5 years. I'm noticing that RIT is now frequently popping up in the top 100 business school listings.
RIT is #92 on Wallet Hub's list, #93 on US News list and #93 on Bloomberg's list. So Rochester now has 2 colleges listed in the top 100 on the most influential ranking publications.
