I understand your concern over NYC types overrunning/changing (negatively) the areas they move to. But if you were to "escape" the North Fork (L.I. ?) to some area upstate...isin't that just doing what these people are also doing? Enlighten me..
No, because I'm not looking to change anything. I'm not gonna move in and demand streetlights, stripmalls, traffic lights, garbage pick up, and god knows what else.
I'm looking for a place that already is a good fit for me, someplace that is safe from change and meddling from "outsiders".
If that is what was going on by me, I wouldn't have too much of an issue aside from maybe increased traffic, but these people have come here and have been nothing but a burden on the local infrastructure and resources. And just the entitlement, arrogance and obnoxiousness, it's disgusting.
..Fair enough..based on your input for this topic, I again reference the distance/ longer travel time to NYC from the southern tier. You might consider giving it a looksee.
Broome County is the county Binghamton is in, for those that don’t know. I can see Vestal, Maine-Endwell, Susquehanna Valley and the Chenango SD’s(Forks and Valley) being pretty popular as well. Tioga County is likely seeing the same.
Hell, I may have to start looking in Alaska with the way things are going.
Come on, hotkarl...To be honest there are places Upstate that actually have relatively affordable homes and low taxes in those regions. It just comes down to looking and if you want to live there. In my opinion, if I were looking, that is where I would go and I say that due to spending time up that way.

Just saw this on the national news last night not living near NYC or San Francisco which were talked about I didn't realize this was a trend. I guess its a great time if your a seller in the burbs it sounds like you an almost write your own price tag and get it. If I hear that Port Jervis has become the new Hot Spot to move to i'll know that we have reached critical mass...
