I am always curious and have been very indefinite on the perceived borders of NYC area/suburbs, especially when it comes to a tri-state/NYC residents point of view.
In my conclusion, I always considered it to be somewhere in between peekskill, westpoint, newburgh area?
But then again, I don't know my accuracy on this.
Just curious.
The NYC metro to the north includes Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties. In recent years from 2013 until 2018, Orange and Dutchess counties were are part of the NYC metro area, but both counties are back to being its own metro area again(Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown).
I don’t know...in this covid nightmare it seems the boundary lines have moved further out. I'm hearing they're moving as far out as Delaware County to the west and Ulster to the north. They've obliterated eastern Suffolk County on LI (Hamptons, North Fork).
The remote work thing really screwed everyone in the outer burbs and rural areas.
When you can work mostly from home and only need to venture into the boroughs a few days a week, or times a month, a 3 hour commute is probably worth the trade off.

I wonder if the NYC folk can be convinced to move a bit further out to parts of NYS that have had their population counts greatly reduced over the past several decades.

I'm sorry guys, I meant to skew this thread in the NYC forum, but thanks for the responses.
To any moderators, is it possible to share this thread on the NYC forum?
Sorry for the inconvenience people......
If you post this in the NYC thread, they will probably say the Bronx, maybe Yonkers.
