After the idea and posts about Scotia being a walkable/bike able community with the same ability into Downtown Schenectady, I was wondering what are some other smaller, walk/bike able communities with walk/bike able access to an adjacent bigger city Downtown? There are some others I thought about.
What makes the Scotia example appealing is that it has its own solid/good schools(public and private). So, as mentioned, that is another aspect that makes it potentially appealing to families and even singles that want to plant roots there for the future.
It isn't a super practical daily walk/ride, but Pittsford and Fairport are relatively walkable villages with a scenic multi-use trail along the Erie Canal and Genesee River to downtown Rochester.

This is different than the Scotia to Schenectady dynamic, where you literally can go from your walkable village into a Downtown of a bigger city from your own community via walking/biking over on a bridge over the Mohawk River.
