A friend has daughter and grandchildren in Canada and cannot cross border to visit. Daughter MIGHT be able to come to US but is unsure if she will be allowed back at this time.
Canadians can always come back. They just have to Quarantine for two weeks. She would also have to fly into the US since she would be denied at a land crossing. Weird, I know.
A few of your fellow countrymen didn't obey the rules, so now you will be tracked, If you do not arrive in Alaska during the allotted time, or you are found to have not taken the direct route, you will be charged and deported.
You also have to enter at one of a few entry points in British Columbia. Quite far from New York.

Yup, I go on the FB page of the advocacy group for family reunification at the Canadian borders. There are people who live 45 minutes from their loved ones but have to get to airports to visit them.

They can visit using the process I linked to in my previous post. It's more likely that the problem for them is the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
My niece's husband is in that boat. He lives in MA but can't visit his mother in Montreal because he doesn't have 14 days to take off from work and quarantine.
Route 17/I-86 takes you to Binghamton before you take I-81 North to Syracuse. If you are going towards Buffalo, then take 17/I-86 to Route 219(or Route 16/400) north to Buffalo and go from there. You can also take I-81 North and cross at the Thousand Island Bridge and take the QEW west towards Toronto.
Where is this taking place in Canada?
Also, with all of this said, you can't cross as of now.
Supposed to be near Port Credit, Ontario, right on the lake. It's funny to me Canada is beautiful but my people that live there can't see the forest for the trees.

As they say, sometimes the law is an ass.
