All across the state it's the same old story, yet all we hear is we must do more!!!
Try doing less and see how that works out.
People still want to know what that entails though. What does that actually mean in terms of a plan?
As for the topic, I already posted an incomplete list of companies already in/near the region and many have job openings. So, this may also mean that the word needs to get out for those that have the skills to get the positions available.
Some companies that come to mind in regards to these communities and others near the Adirondacks are: NY Air Brake(Watertown), Car Freshener Corporation/Little Trees(Watertown), Swarovski(Plattsburgh), Nova Bus(Plattsburgh), Schluter Systems(Plattsburgh), Global Foundries(Malta), C. R. Bard(Glens Falls), AngioDynamics(Queensbury), International Paper(Ticonderoga, Plattsburgh), Kraft(Lowville), Benjamin Moore Paints(Johnstown), KAPL(West Milton, Niskayuna), Feldmeier(Little Falls), Corning Inc.(Canton), FAGE USA(Johnstown), Fibermark(Brownville, Lowville), KPH Healthcare Services(aka Kinney Drugs)(Gouverneur), Beech-Nut(Amsterdam) and Epimed(Johnstown), among others that interested younger folks could search for employment at.
Perhaps even companies at the Griffiss Business Park in Rome for those that are in the SW portion of the Adirondacks. For instance, Adirondack Central SD is actually based in nearby Boonville.
Another company that comes to mind and for the Baseball enthusiasts, Rawlings makes their Adirondack baseball bats in Dolgeville(there are openings available currently).
Just to give a frame of reference, I put the location next to the companies listed. Some have blue collar work/manufacturing, but some also have engineering, management and other white collar work as well.
One reason is With high income taxes and property taxes younger people don't want to live here. They can get jobs in other states and keep more of their income.

That's if the income is actually as high. It takes a certain type to live in the Adirondacks as well.
I know you mean well posting all the job openings but I know a lot of people that after their kids graduated college did not want to come back here. In. other states, housing is much cheaper as are property taxes, several have no state income tax. So even if a job pays less, the cost all around is cheaper. Families are moving out to have a better lifestyle. It's all relative.
Costco wanted to move in to Guilderland, which would have provided a lot of jobs with benefits, not to mention a big box warehouse better than BJs and Sam's. They voted it down.
Nothing will get better until we, the people, stand up to the government.
Which is probably a lost cause because the nyc metro area pretty much runs the entire state, but yeah if we could gain some control back from the government we may have a shot at getting something done.
