Well that looks awesome! I had no idea how far north Lake Placid was till I looked this up on the map. Seems like a long way to go for a summer vacation back in the day although I guess a trip to eastern LI in the summer is probably 5 hours by car, too.

I think it was normal for people to take week (or longer) vacations so it was worthwhile. Nowadays it is hard to get everyone together for more then just a couple of days unfortunately.
