"The final version of New York State budget for the coming year, which could be approved this week, includes a provision lowering the minimum age for hunting big game (deer and bear) with a firearm or crossbow from age 14 to 12.
The provision entails a two-year pilot program that takes effect June 1 and expires Dec. 31, 2023. It will take effect in most of the state, excluding Long Island, New York City and Westchester County."
"They say" hunting license sales were way up last fall.. Sure could have fooled me. Since I bought this place decades ago, the number of guys hunting in this area has visibly gone down every year. Even my time spent hunting has tailed off since moving here. Very little in the way of development around here....and there is certainly no lack of huntable game.
