I had been to Mainline Diner & Pizza Company and they were really nice folks, the prices were good to and thh food tasted good to. And the end returned happy!!
Not a classic Mountain View diner, but a similarly restored Silk City diner, also built in New Jersey, recently opened near Blue Mountain Lake in the Adirondacks: Chef Darrell’s Mountain Diner
Great thread, ckhthankgod! I have to spread some reps before getting to you again, but you really do share great info on this forum!
I've been to Gibbys and West Taghkanic but will have to check out the others on the list, especially chuck wagon. I never heard of the Mountain Top diners, but wonder if the Creekside Cafe near Grand Gorge would cut it?
It's pretty hard for me to hate any diner, because really - how can any breakfast ever be bad? What I love & remember about a really good diner, what gets me going back, is the ambiance. The customers that you can tell are regulars ...and have that worn-in, familiar, friendly back & forth with the staff....that's what I like. The kind of place, where if you walked in as a stranger, had breakfast, then walked out and your car wouldn't start...you'd have 3 or more patrons beat feet to get outside and help you. (Yep, first hand experience.)
Not a Mountain View diner, but certainly a mountain view diner, one that is nestled in the heart of Keene Valley in the ADK: Noon Mark Diner
Enjoyed a nice post-hike meal there, in a cozy, homey, friendly setting. Highly recommend.
