It seems there are many more towns and houses between Buffalo and Erie, PA. Why hasn't more been built between Niagara and Oswego?
There are no major cities on the southern Ontario lakeshore in that region. Rochester does brush the lake for a short 2 mile strip. All residential. The harbor area has some development, and there have been many proposals for some high, or mid rise buildings, and got shot down by the locals Downtown Rochester is about 10 miles south of the lakeshore. Most of the big money in Rochester is in the southeast suburbs and tend to migrate to the Finger Lakes. We have river waterfront and canal waterfronts as well. Check out some of the canal towns like Fairport, Pittsford, Brockport and Spencerport.
To sum it up, I would say we have an abundance of waterfront, compared to population
There are also quite a few state and other parks on the Lake Ontario lakeshore. There are multiple beaches and sand dunes. So, that likely plays a part in that as well.
Also, besides the Dunkirk/Fredonia area, I don’t know of too much development in between Erie PA and the Southtowns of Buffalo that are actually on Lake Erie.
^What is interesting is that if you go to say Mexico Point or Sandy Island east of Oswego, you can see Nine Mile looking west in the distance. However, if you go to Fair Haven west of Oswego, I don’t remember seeing Nine Mile if you look to east. So, some of this will depend on where you are along the lake.
Im not sure how many people would enjoy a view of a reactor.
Why not? I surely like that as opposed to windmills and solar collectors that destroy so much green space to only produce a fraction of power as a nuke plant
