The Westside Stadium should have been put up for a referendum, instead of one man, the Speaker of the Assembly, having the power to reject the whole deal. Another issue I had was Jim Dolan, owner of The Garden/Knicks and Rangers, being the main thrust behind the opposition. Dolan was helped, in the short run, by Silver's rejection of the deal. However, Hudson Yards still is, for the most part, a boondock neighborhood, and a lot of the susequent events (college games, concerts, Michelle Obama's Becoming Tour, etc) ended up at Barclay's....!
