Early this morning NYS courts certifed and released new maps for state, senate and congressional districts. Now the fun begins as both democrats and republicans either breathe a sigh of relief, or are looking around to see what there is....

Off bat Westchester/Hudson Valley democrats avoided a messy battle as Rep. Mondaire Jones has decided won't primary Jamall Bowman, but will go after newly created NYS-10 which covers lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn. He doesn't live anywhere near, and most won't know Jones from Adam, but he's going to work the gay angle. Former NYC mayor BdeB is also eyeballing that seat as are several others.

Republicans come out of this relieved (Staten Island wasn't joined with liberal Park Slope, but Bensonhurst), so Nicole Malliotakis while not exactly totally in clear does seem to have less to worry about.
