A portion of the article, "U.S. News & World Report has come out with its 2022-2023 list of the best colleges in America, ranking schools on a variety of factors, including student-faculty ratio, tuition, campus life, financial aid, application requirements and post-graduate earning data.
Cornell University held the top spot in Upstate New York and ranked the highest across the entire state. The Ithaca school was named No. 17 in overall national rankings, No. 9 for undergraduate engineering programs, No. 5 for business programs, No. 5 for computer science, No. 5 for veterans, and No. 20 for best value.
Five other Upstate New York schools ranked in the top 100 nationally, including the University of Rochester at No. 36, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy at No. 51, Syracuse University at No. 62, Binghamton University at No. 83 and the University at Buffalo at No. 89. Cornell and the University of Rochester also ranked among the top 25 Best Value Colleges nationally.
Other schools with notable rankings include RIT in Rochester (No. 105 overall, No. 48 in Best Value Colleges nationally); SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) in Syracuse (No. 105 overall, No. 48 in top public schools nationally); Clarkson University in Potsdam (No. 127 overall); Russell Sage College in Troy (No. 36 in Best Value Colleges nationally); St. John Fisher University in Rochester (No. 47 in Best Value Colleges nationally); Alfred State College (No. 9 among Regional College North schools); Ithaca College (No. 12 among Regional Universities North schools); Le Moyne College (No. 15 in Regional Universities North); SUNY Oswego (No. 12 among public schools in north region); Cazenovia College (No. 11 in Regional Colleges North, No. 2 in Best Value for Regional Colleges North); Hamilton College (No. 15 in National Liberal Arts Colleges); Colgate University (No. 18 in National Liberal Arts Colleges); and St. Lawrence University (No. 68 in National Liberal Arts Colleges)."
