A couple of historical references related to the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and the AME Zion Church in the 1915 edition of “Who’s who in Colored America”. The first, Theodore Auten, while originally from Somerville NJ, served churches in places such as Bath, Jamestown, Amsterdam and Ithaca. He also married a woman from Bath: https://books.google.com/books?id=tW...pastor&f=false (name highlighted)

Historical Moment#23 (First paragraph)

The second, Edward Ulysses Anderson Brooks was born in Elmira in 1872 and graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1889. Attended Cornell, was admitted to the Bar in Syracuse in 1893 and served as a lawyer in Elmira from 1894-1901. Married a woman from NJ in Waverly, a place where he served as a pastor. Also served in Utica(Hope Chapel), Auburn and Saratoga Springs(Dyer-Phelps)(possibly Little Falls as well): https://books.google.com/books?id=tW...brooks&f=false
