I believe this coach is mentioned in the article above: Hornets' coaching legend steps down
He grew up in Witherbee and attended Mineville and Moriah(the consolidated version) HS’s in Essex County in the early 1960’s. His family came from Greenville SC to work in the local mines. He is also mentioned in this article: Flashback: Sports headlines from the past seven decades | | pressrepublican.com
His sister: Dr. Alice Green | Justice Works

An older article about a retreat she helped start in 1997: A creative Adirondack retreat | Lifestyles | poststar.com

A book about the family: Alone in the garden: a tribute to the lives of William and Annie Mae Paden - Green, Alice Paden

Correction: Moriah Central didn’t consolidate with Mineville and Port Henry until 1968. So, Mr. Paden just attended Mineville.

A did you know aside from this, is that for you Brooklyn/LA Dodgers fans, Johnny Podres is from the Mineville/Witherbee area as well.

As mentioned before, the Timbuctoo settlement was created in Essex County and the person that the film “12 Years A Slave†was centred around, Solomon Northup, was born in the town of Minerva in that county. A website that touches on those topics: https://www.adirondackalmanack.com/2...k-stories.html

An example of why I still post on this thread: https://www.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/...nt?oid=2834708

Given where the young lady came from in order to get hair done, I'm kind of surprised that there wasn't a place in Plattsburgh given the 2 colleges, the fact it had a former Air Force Base and there are other black residents in the city/area. If a place like Burlington VT could or does have such a business, there are plenty of similar places in Upstate NY with a similar to higher percentage where a similar or other businesses could be set up.

Same goes for Hispanic/Latino communities as well.

Many of these smaller places have a college, military and/or local population that is visible and a business could fill a need in for these communities.

From rural/small town communities in Wayne County:

Wayne County is in the Rochester metro area and both of these communities are in between Rochester and Syracuse, as well as Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes.
