Interesting enough, Andy Lofters, whose record the young man broke, is also Black and attended then Cicero High before it combined with North Syracuse High in 1983. Lofters’ mom was a long time librarian in the North Syracuse SD and was a long time board member of the Northern Onondaga Public Library. The North Syracuse area was actually one of the first suburban areas outside of Syracuse to have a visible Black population due to the presence of the former Hancock Air Force Base, which stopped being a regular AFB in 1983. Around the late 60’s/early 70’s is when that became apparent. Some alumni: Syracuse anchor Jackie Robinson signs off for the last time | syracuse.com

Areas of the district such as eastern Clay(Bear Road and Caughdenoy Road areas), the Hiller Heights/Darby Farms area of Cicero and Mattydale is where you will see higher visibility in comparison to other parts of the district. Perhaps in the area in between Buckley Road and Henry Clay Boulevard, whose name escapes me as well.

Actually, this former school administrator and author was the principal at an elementary school in the district until retiring after the previous school year: https://allevents.in/east%20syracuse...76234502731683

Also, the district had an assistant school superintendent that was in the late 60's/early 70's as well.

As an aside, her husband is a local lawyer that grew up in Binghamton and graduated from the old North High in that city in the mid/late 1960’s.

That article was written by a guy that was born and raised partially in Syracuse(and in the DC area): https://pilotonline.com/sports/high-...1228d502c.html

This writer also graduated from Syracuse University and was also a former radio DJ when WOLF 1490 AM was an urban format radio station in the late 80's/early 90's.

Sweet Home is another example of a suburban SD that Black residents in the Buffalo area moved to in visible numbers earlier than other area suburbs(about late 60's to mid 70's).

Also a good example of talented people from the state that are elsewhere as well.
Just showing that I’m not making it up, here is an old video that has the sportswriter mentioned above in it:

(Shout out to Syracuse Nostalgia)

Club Beat Videos used to come on Channel 13, a former cable access channel on Cooke Cablevision in the city of Syracuse and Newchannels Cable for the suburbs of Syracuse. It came on Saturday evenings at about 5 or 6 PM. Sometimes they would do the show for club locations or concerts like this show. Kenny Dees, currently at Power 620, would sometimes do a show from an old club like Nowhere City in East Syracuse, the Gardenia on the city’s South Side and perhaps the old Top Cat Lounge on the city’s West Side too. It was essentially a local video show that would drop some songs before they were popular or those that were more underground. They may even play local artists as well like this back in the day(had video, but this isn’t it):
