been in the area for a few years. last year we saw the fireworks at thompson park. the year before we saw the one on ft drum. the year before that over in carthage.

heard that abay has a great one over boldt castle and the river. not really familiar with the area other than the drive-in. was wondering where is best place (parks, parking lot, or cross streets) to see the fireworks and where is best to park our car. both in one spot would be great because i have two little ones and another on the way soon. also, preferable free of charge places.

we love fireworks. might just try to hit all of the places this year. thanks for any response that i might get.

Unhappy darn...

was hoping to get some info from anyone who's been to the fireworks before at abay. still hoping.

last night was suppose to be fort drum's fireworks, but it got cancelled. the concert was great. just a little on the wet side near the end there. hoping that it gets reschedualed. at least i know where to go see the thompson park fire works.

if you've ever been to the fireworks in abay, just a little info would be great. thanks.

Default A-Bay fireworks

Park just outside of town for easy in/out travel. The fireworks are pretty popular. Hike into town to the Bonnie Castle Resort (I believe there's a five dollar fee to go in through the parking lot, but in previous years it's earned a free drink a the bar) . Go through the bar and onto the back deck. It overlooks the river and Boldt Castle (and it's close, too!), but in the past it's been surprisingly uncrowded. The works themselves are gorgeous. Enjoy!

Default Whoops

Sorry, didn't notice the little ones caveat. The hike might be a trial, then. But I stand by the location.

If you can cruise over towards Boldt Castle by boat, it is much better and MUCH easier to get out of the Alex Bay area. The car traffic in the bay on fireworks night will make one blow a cerebral gasket.

I'm wondering if you managed to see the fireworks and if the kids enjoyed them.

Default wish that we could have gone...

great info provided. maybe we'll get to go next year. we ended up seeing it on the abay live cam. Abay Live Cams

my third child decided to arrive a bit early. we all were too tired to even think about fighting through the crowds. might try going to sackets harbor this saturday to see the fireworks there.

we got to go to the thompson park one which was alright. a few pauses here and there, but it was still fireworks.

love new york in the early summer months. there is always a festival and/or fireworks going on somewhere.

Congrats on the newest member of the family! Sounds like you had your own fireworks. Best of luck to you.
