I have to go to a weekend event in Morrisville in November. I got on my trusty Holiday Inn Priority Club website to look for a hotel in the area, and what popped up was Syracuse. No problem if I have to stay a little ways from Morrisville itself, but I'm coming up from NJ and it doesn't make sense to overshoot the target by going further north to Syracuse. Any suggestions on what other towns to look for? I will first be stopping in Albany on the way up, so maybe something along the route between Albany and Morrisville? I don't HAVE to stay at a Holiday Inn brand (I just get points for that), by the way, but I need to identify towns that might be large enough to have decent hotels that aren't the kind where rooms are rented multiple times per night, if you get my drift. Thank you.

Look in Canastota, as it is right off of the Thruway and you can take Peterboro St./Road to Morrisville. You could stay in maybe Hamilton or Cazenovia, but it would depend on your budget too. canastota, ny hotels - Google Maps

Oneida might work as well and is a bit bigger than Canastota: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&gl...ed=0CCUQtgMwAA

I'd look for a B&B in Morrisville itself or in Hamilton, NY, just outside. It's located by Colgate and they have a few of the larger-type chain hotels, for when parents and esteemed guests visit. There are more (and nicer) restaurants in Hamilton as well... and a McD's across from the bigger hotels, if you just want a quick sandwich and coffee.

Thank you, both! I'll look into those suggestions.

I have been to Oneida--there is a casino there and I stayed at their Inn when my daughter had a high school band event in Syracuse a couple of years ago. And I won a few hundred dollars playing Let-it-Ride. Hmmmm...

I have been up to Syracuse a couple of times, but not Morrisville. Have to go to a horse show in November.

Default Lovely B&B in Peterboro

There is a lovely B&B in Peterboro, NY just outside of Morrisville. Its very upscale and comfortable. I've stayed there several times. It's called "The Charlotte Amalie Inn"

Thanks, but I asked the question 18 months ago because the horse show was November, 2010.

I ended up staying at the Turning Stone casino, FYI. Staying at an upscale B&B with my niece would have been a little weird, I think.

Nice to know about the B&B should I ever have occasion to get up that way again, though.
