Funny, because when I recently talked to a contractor from Syracuse who was working on the harbor in Oswego he said he couldn't believe how beautiful it was and how surprised he was that he didn't know it.
Only in Fulton Can the Head of our assessment review Board be backed by the Mayor, and Alderman so his 70 some properties are asessed at about 30% or less than there fair market value, But if we don't cut him a deal he'll sell out and leave town. And we would not want a former Mayor's son to do that. So we the rest of us just pay and extra $150,000.00 or so in property taxes so he can have a great life style.
He owns 19.5 acers assessed at $1,000.00
4 acers assessed at $1,000.00
3.53 Acera assessed at $1,000.00
3.55 Acers Assessed at $1,300.00
His neighbors propertys are assessed at $5,000, to $9,000 per Acer not lot, but Per acer.
His Townhouse apartments are all assessed at $51,500
They were built in 1975 through 1985
The old Townhouses built in 1915 are assessed at $67,000.
But no body can do any thing but Pay!

Reason: Missed spelled
We should change the Name of Fulton to Patrick's Ville.
because it belong to the Patrick's, and his friends and
associates.
There is a family here that built a house here a few years ago with a $474,000.00 mortage that had an assessed value of $185,000.00 dollar cause he paid to much. Do you think any one
that could get a $474,000.00 mortage is so stupid that he'd spend $300,000.00 more than the house would ever be worth?
Do you think his bank would let him, would your bank let you?
Only in Fulton. But The Mayor swears he paid to much so his assessment should be what it is.
Oh the House mentioned above in on Marion Street.
There are only two.
See if you can guess which one cost $474,000.00

I lived in Pulaski for 35+ years, which is about 15-20 miles from Fulton. Fulton used to have Miller Brewing and Nestle's chocolate factories, both of which are no longer there, so there are basically no good jobs there anymore. You can drive through the city neighborhoods during the workday and see hundreds of people (on welfare) sitting outside on their couches, chairs, and other upholstered furniture that they keep on the porch or in the yard smoking & drinking & partying while their children run around dirty and unkempt. (Welfare recipients like to like in towns the size of Fulton because they can walk to the grocery & convenience stores).
Of course, in the country areas surrounding Fulton, there are some nicer developments, but there are also many more of the old rusty single-wide trailers with the porch added on, a couple of junk cars on blocks in the driveway, others out in the field with the grass grown up around them, the 2-3 doghouses with dogs chained to them, and the barn out back falling down. Typical rural poor people.
Fulton doesn't have much going for it now. As others have said, the main job sources were shut down awhile ago. Now most families are living on welfare and don't work at all. I am a student in Fulton's high school and happen to be a part of a family who does not survive on welfare. I am friends with many of kids here whose families work (and are clean) so good Fultonians do exist! Unfortunatly, most of our school population are the type who don't shower for weeks (and don't seem to care) and stay up late drinking or who knows what else. :-/I would recommend looking into another city.
I saw this post a while back and didn't want to "contribute" my opinion of Fulton but now that what a lot of what I think is already written... I'll just go ahead and ditto these posts.
I lived in Fulton all my life.. Like most cities you live in has some sort of problem or other.. And no matter where you go you will have some sort of crime.. I live in syracuse at the moment but cant wait to get back to fulton its quieter then the city. And a little less crime rate in fulton then syracuse.
BTW... The city of Fulton should not be confused with Fulton County. They are nowhere near each other.
