Where are good schools in Binghamton? Are the schools in the city any good? We are researching Binghamton as one of our choices for a move early next year.

Thanks!

I would say that Vestal is probably the best school district with Chenango Valley right behind them. Johnson City and Union Endicott schools aren't too bad either. Here is some information to help make your choice a bit easier:https://www.nystart.gov/publicweb/County.do?year=2007&county=Broome (broken link)

New York schools - NY elementary, middle and high school information

Hope this helps.

Thanks! That link is helpful. Are any of the schools in the city decent? We are most interested in living close in where we can walk places. It's hard to tell just from test scores.

I think out of the city elementary schools there, Thomas Jefferson and Calvin Coolidge are the best. West seems to get the better reviews in terms of the middle schools and there is only one HS, Binghamton High. BHS has gotten good reviews for it's programs. Here's the district website too:Binghamton City School District (http://www.bcsd.stier.org/home.cfm - broken link)

MacArthur Elementary is very good and has a few nice neighborhoods close-by. I went there in the early 70s and my family still lives in the neighborhood. We are also thinking of moving back to the city, with many of the same goals in mind--walkable, safe, friendly, affordable.
