Wow, I'd never clicked on to that. It's a few years old, and kind of a relic, unfortunately. The hotel project looks dead, and the current mayor is trying to kill the artist center project, though it looks like he'll be unable to.
But thanks for digging that up!

Cool Verrrrry interesting!

Had no earthly idea that there was a video on that website. I have directed people (family, friend, forum people) to that site many times, but had never accessed that link before. As Nunoco says, the (past) mayor in the video now has a state job, but that video is proof that Dan Stewart had something that our current mayor does not.........a positive vision of what this area can be!

I have to add though that although the downtown waterfront project is on an indefinite hold/banking/funding?, there have been other projects and a new multi-story hotel going up near the mall right now. We have a new stadium type theatre/building almost completed near the VT ferry, and the mall spaces here are full and I just read where a developer is planning a couple of new fast food places and of course the Target store has already well-exceeded projected expectations for sales. I talk to some of my friends/relatives across the US and their mall storefronts are shutting down in the cities every single day. Big name stores, too!!! We have none of that...........thanks to our Canadian/VT friends but also the fact that this city draws from a fairly wide radius of people. I still keep hearing the Kohl's rumors also, which I think we really need. As much as I love Target, there is a real need for a true department type store here. Penneys and Sears are really small in size for this area. We would definitely be able to support a department store with higher quality merchandise.

Not that retail alone will carry Plattsburgh, but it is a fairly good indicator of this area. Nova Bus opens soon and will provide more jobs and our direct flight airline to Florida (Allegiant Air) has added an additional destination to its previous two cities. Nothing happens overnight, but this area has such potential and Dan Stewart deserves a lot of credit (IMO) for allowing local people to actually realize what locals could not see right under their noses: the fact that this area has a huge potential for growth and amazing natural resources and beauty. Nice to see Dan again. Thanks for pointing out the video to us! Enjoy this beautiful weekend weather!
