Well, Cortland is a small city of about 18,000. It is not the most diverse city, but there is a small, but noticable and growing Black population or community there. Same with the "Hispanic" population there too. It kind of has a rural feel to it but it is close to both Syracuse and Ithaca, two cities with diverse populations. I've heard mixed things about the racial climate, but nothing serious. I'm not sure about where you could get your hair and nails done, but they might have a place to fit your needs. if not, then it's probably Syracuse or Ithaca. As far as shopping and restaurants, it's probably pretty limited, but again, if you can get to Syracuse or Ithaca, that would not be a problem. Both are only about 30 minutes away too.

I went to Suny Cortland. All I can say is that Cortland was sooooooooo boring, lol. Really not much to do at all, besides go to bars in town (which I wasn't into). That's why it was such a partying school--not much to do around there. I hear when the college lets out, it's like a ghost town.
